About

Welcome to my blog!

It is here that I share what life is like with my brood.  And where I pour out my thoughts and the contents of my days in an effort to keep my sanity and some kind of contact with the world outside of my home...which is where I spend the majority of my time. This also serves as my children's account of their childhood.  After number 2 the scrapbooking became non-existent. In the history of this blog, there is a significant time lapse where NOTHING (or hardly anything) was posted.  This was during number 3's toddler-hood and number 4's infancy, and when we moved 3 times. Sorry youngest two children, we were really busy. If you find pictures you can piece those years of your childhood together.

Other STATS on the Author:

  • elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom
  • married to Nathan for 15 yrs (almost...and yes, we're counting!)
  • love to read! ...but seriously, who has the time??
  • newfound love of exercising & running (I know, it's strange to use that word in this sentence. Love. But it's true.)
  • gourmet cook turned "here's your mac n' cheese! And eat a piece of broccoli with that!"

Occasionally you may read something here that is highly enlightening or profoundly insightful, but it's not likely.

Below is a poem that was sent to me once, that I feel very accurately describes my feelings and the overall
atmosphere that encompasses me daily.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my sanity to keep.
For if some peace I do not find,
I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.
I pray I find a little quiet...
Far from the daily family riot.
May I lie back--not have to think
about what they're stuffing down the sink,
or who they're with,
or where they're at
and what they're doing to the cat.
I pray for time all to myself
(did something just fall off a shelf?)
To cuddle in my nice, soft bed
(Oh no, another goldfish--dead!)
Some silent moments for goodness sake
(Did I just hear a window break?)
And that I need not cook or clean...
(Well heck, I've got the right to dream)
Yes now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my wits about me keep.
But as I look around I know...
I must have lost them long ago!
