Extreme (for me) Couponing!

First off--My computer issues have been resolved now!  So other than having several high maintenance children, a house needing cleaning, and a husband who likes to have dinner when he gets home at night, I've got NOTHING holding me back from blogging again! So here we gooooo....

For those of you who don't get completely inebriated with joy over sales, getting things for FREE, saving $ on groceries, etc...ya might get a little bored with this post! I'm about to tell you about my extreme (for me) couponing shopping trip today.  I'm so excited about it I can hardly contain myself! And when I get excited about something I have to tell EVERYBODY I know about it! I already told my mother and mother-in-law and Nathan, so now it's your turn to hear it! :) This stuff is addicting, I tell ya!

Now, I'm no extreme couponer like those women you see on TLC! (I say that with a head tilt and shrug as I think of the 30 boxes of cereal, 17 bags of chips and 66 bags of individual sized chips stored in my pantry.) THEY WERE ON SALE PEOPLE-AND I had coupons on TOP of the sale prices! I promise I'm not one of those stock pilers...I do not have 200 boxes of antacids stored under Macy's crib! YET! No, just kidding...I only try to stock pile the things we actually use on a day to day basis.

Yesterday I started looking at the deal finder websites I subscribe to, to see if there were any sales out there that I couldn't resist.  I found quite a few posts about sales at Target and WalMart that I couldn't pass up.  Let me interject here, it is EASY for me to pass up some sales when I weigh the scenario of--taking a one year old and two year old into a store--with the great bargain that is in that store.  Many, MANY times, the children win out and we stay away.  It's just not worth the headache, screams, people looking at the lady with the crying children wondering how she is so talented to have BOTH of them screaming their heads off at once.  Yep, what can I say, I'm full of useless talents!

Anyway, back to my story! So today the babies and I loaded up and headed to Target and WalMart.  Here is a nice picture of my mini-stockpiles I scored today!
Now, it is small compared to those you've probably seen on TV, but 7 bottles of body wash, 15 bars of soap, 7 tubes of toothpaste...that's extreme for me.

So now, to ease the excitement that's bursting inside of me I HAVE to tell you about this stuff. From left, 5 3-packs of soap, I got these for FREE plus I had an overage of 15 cents that came off of my total bill.  (That happens when your coupon is worth more than the price of the item-ex: this soap was $.97, my coupon was $1 off.)  Next are the 4 bottles of Spic n Span antibacterial spray.  I paid $.47 each for those.  5 sticks of deodorant, $.47 each.  5 tubes of Colgate toothpaste, $.25 each.  2 tubes of Aquafresh Extreme Clean toothpaste $1.88 each-the most expensive thing I bought.  7 large bottles of Old Spice body wash, $.48 each.  5 trial sized bottles of Gillette shaving cream, $.42 each.  Aquafresh training toothbrush, $.49.  2 gargantuan bottles of peroxide...drum roll...$.09 each! Nine Cents! And finally, 2 24-count boxes of ibuprofen...drum roll again...$.02 each!! Yes, TWO CENTS! HA! Here it is in a nutshell:  I got $60.47 worth of stuff and I paid $15.34! Aren't you just SO THRILLED?!?!  OK, well, maybe not as thrilled as I am.  :)

The checkout lady at WalMart was not as thrilled as I was either.  I thought she just might hyperventilate if she kept huffing at all the coupons I was handing her.  hee hee!!  She REALLY didn't want to give me the soap for free plus the 3 cent each overage, but I made her call over a manager who set her straight.  (Both babies were screaming at this point too! -evil grin with tongue sticking out!) Don't know what it benefited HER to deny me the free soap and 15 cents-I will just avoid her line in the future. :)

I texted (is that even a word?? spell checker says no but maybe it's just not up on current lingo!) the above picture to Nathan too and told him what I spent-NO-SAVED on everything.  He was so happy.  No, not really.  He texted back "On the 17th day of May, a coupon monster was born...LORD help us!" Well, at least his mother was excited for me...she's out buying her coupon binder as we speak! -big grin- :-D

They've Finally Added an Email Subscription!

For some of you who've read my blog since the beginning, you remember getting emails when my blog was updated.  I quit doing it because it was kind of a hassle and I wasn't sure if any of you even wanted me to notify you by email when I posted a new message.  Blogger has now added this feature for us! So if you would like to get an email when I've posted a new message, fill in your email address in the space provided at the right and click subscribe! Easy as pie! Apple Pie! With crunchy oatmeal crisp topping! And maybe some vanilla ice cream! Mmmm! Are you hungry now?

I've not posted in a while and this one is going to be short since my space bar on this laptop is STILL broken (as previously stated here) and it is a true PAIN to type anything on here! Getting this issue fixed soon though. So stay tuned!
